Surrogacy is the kind of Ivf technique used by couples when a women becomes the gestational carrier of their child where the embryo fertilized and created using the Egg of the genetic mother and the sperm of the genetic father and is placed in her womb in cases wherever the genetic woman’s womb carry a pregnancy to term or when the womb/uterus is absent because of Hysterectomy or Congenital absence of uterus in some women. The surrogate always carries on with the process of pregnancy with the intention of relinquishing the child after birth. Surrogates usually have to through a screening process where they’re totally examined for any diseases or genetic disorders. Surrogacy is considered legal in few countries including India.
Surrogacy in India was made legal since 2002. More over with the Supreme Court’s ruling it had been established that commercial surrogacy is legal in India. According to the Assisted Reproductive Technology Bill & Rules, 2008, surrogate mothers have to relinquish their rights over the child born out of the arrangement. India has a set of legislative rules that guide and direct the method of surrogacy in India.
