IVF (In Vitro fertilization)
In Vitro fertilization involves simulating the woman’s ovaries with medication to generate more eggs. The eggs are then collected from the women and are placed in a container where they are fertilized with sperm to form an embryo. The embryos then left to grow into cell stage and are then implanted into a woman’s womb that is ready to take the pregnancy.
ICSI (Intra Cytoplasmic Sperm Injection)
In this method the sperm collected from the donor or a male partner is injected into individual egg which is retrieved for the creation of embryo. This method is widely used worldwide. Embryos can be stored for the future use where the quality of the egg decreases with the increase in the woman’s age. Some women undergoing a cancer treatment will use the stored embryos to get pregnant.
IUI (Intrauterine Insemination)
In IUI a washed and treated sperm is placed into woman’s womb at the similar time that egg travels through the fallopian tubes and fertilizes with the sperm to form an embryo. This treatment cannot be used for the patients who have blocked fallopian tubes. This method will be useful for same-sex couples.
Egg Donation
Egg donation is used when the woman have cancer treatments, poor functioning ovaries or unable to produce health eggs. Egg donation also helps who want to have their family at the very late age due to various reasons and female partner cannot produce healthy eggs due to the age.
Sperm Donors
If the male partner has a lower sperm count or the other factors influencing the production of sperm cells, the sperm can be taken from an anonymous donor that are matched with prospective parents. The donor health is also taken into consideration at the time of donation.
Surrogacy
Surrogacy is the process in which a woman carries a baby for others. By using any of the above methods the woman carries a baby. The cause for going surrogacy involves recurrent miscarriages, failed IVF attempts. Surrogacy is a best option for such couples to fulfill their dream of having a baby.
