Process for Egg Donation:
Surrogacy is nothing less than medical revolution for those couples who are facing problems due to infertility but desirous of having their own child. As an Assisted Reproductive Technique or ART, surrogacy is now a globally accepted reproductive procedure. The success of surrogacy treatment largely depends upon the egg donor or surrogate therefore, couples should make judicious decision before going in for donor sperm, egg or embryos of the donor.
A third party donor is a person who donates sperm, eggs or embryo to his/her known friends, family or acquaintances. The most common reason of using donated sperm, eggs or embryos is due to the following reasons-
- The couple is unable to have children by using their own sperm, egg or embryo due to infertility or some physical or psychological reasons.
- There exists some known genetic disorders in the family and the couple does not like to inherit them by passing them through natural reproductive procedure.
Treatment at KIC:
The egg donation process involves vigilant testing of the person (prospective donor) by the doctors at Kiran Infertility clinic through a medical history. Based on the medical information, our clinic decides whether the concerned person qualifies as a donor. There is a responsibility on the donor to discuss about the psychological and physical aspects relating to the egg donation process with the physician to analyze the risks associated with the egg donation process before deciding to donate. For the couples or intending parents working our fertility clinic would help them in finding an ideal match from a wide variety of egg donors with various cultural backgrounds and physical characteristics.
The other important decision before choosing an egg donor is to decide whether to choose a donor who is anonymous, semi-know donor or known donor. An anonymous donor is a woman who the couple will never be able to meet in person. A semi-known donor is that woman who chooses to share limited information about her. A known donor on the other hand is a person who is a friend, a member within the family circle, relative or a stranger who the intending parent has chosen through the fertility clinic and who is willing to meet within the agreed upon conditions.
The requirement of egg donor is more important in case of IVF technique where its success rate is dependent upon the quality of the eggs donated by the donor. The egg donors in such cases should be healthy women within the age barrier of 21 to 25 years of age.
We at Kiran IVF have expertise in the retrieval of healthy eggs from egg donors. For more information, one can contact us through email drsamit@kiranivfgenetic.com or call us at +91-994-817-5768
