Week By Week Baby Ultrasound
When you do take the home pregnancy test, it doesn’t quite seem real. But when you see the baby and the heartbeat, on the ultrasound it’s so incredible.
Ultrasound is an imaging technology that uses sound waves to create images. These images are displayed on the screen and you are able to see those. These scans are painless and there is no harm to you and your baby.
Pregnancy ultrasounds provide your doctor with plenty of valuable information. Early in pregnancy, ultrasounds are used to confirm the fetal heartbeat, location of your pregnancy and whether you’re carrying multiples.
Later allow the Doctor to monitor your baby’s growth, detect abnormalities, and see the position of your placenta. Toward the end of pregnancy, ultrasounds can be useful for checking the length of your cervix, if there is any suspicion that you may be in preterm labor, as well as to verify that your baby is in a heads-down position before labor.
Wondering how many times you’ll need to undergo an ultrasound? This varies based on the woman and her pregnancy. Here are some ultrasound exams you might have while expecting.
6 weeks: This scan is used to confirm your estimated due date, check fetal heartbeat, number of fetuses and also to make sure the pregnancy is in uterus.
9 weeks: Those who don’t take 6 weeks ultrasound can go for 9 weeks.
22 weeks: This scan can show how the fetal organs are developing and whether the placenta and amniotic fluid levels are healthy.
28 weeks: This scan is helpful to find growth and fetal wellbeing
32 weeks: All the baby’s major organs are fully developed by now, except for the lungs.
The journey towards a new future starts today, the journey of starting a family starts with a single step of consultation.
